Banks to Remain Closed on July 1 Across Pakistan Due to Annual Bank Holiday

Karachi – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially announced that all banks, development financial institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks across the country will remain closed to the public on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, due to the annual Bank Holiday.

According to the SBP’s notification, no over-the-counter public banking services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, cheques, or other transactions will be available on this day. The closure has been scheduled specifically to allow banks to finalize their financial accounts for the fiscal year 2024–2025.

The first day of July marks the beginning of Pakistan’s new fiscal year, and every year, this day is reserved for banks to carry out internal financial closing activities, including account audits, record updates, and financial reporting.

Despite the public holiday, the notification confirmed that bank staff will attend offices as usual, but will not provide services to customers.

Key Highlights:

  • Date of Closure: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
  • Reason: Yearly bank closure for internal account settlement
  • Applies To: All commercial banks, DFIs, and microfinance banks
  • Public Services: Suspended for the day (no in-person banking)
  • Staff Attendance: Employees to work internally

Customers are advised to complete any necessary transactions before July 1 and are encouraged to use digital banking services, mobile apps, or ATMs for any urgent financial needs during the closure.
