Big Relief for Electricity Users in Pakistan: NEPRA Reduces Power Tariffs

Good news for electricity consumers in Pakistan. NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) has decided to decrease the prices of electricity for that homes which use between 100 and 500 units per month. This decision will help many peoples who are facing difficulties with rising prices of electricity bills and high living costs.

NEPRA has approved the green light to decrease the electricity base tariff by as much as Rs. 1.15 per unit. This change has been sent to the federal government for official approval. After the government issues the notification, the new prices will apply across the country. As a result, many households will pay less for their electricity.

The maximum electricity rate for home users will now be Rs. 47.69 per unit. However, people who use up to 50 units (called lifeline users) will still pay only Rs. 3.95 per unit. This move aims to shield low-income households from the burden of expensive electricity bills.

NEPRA also updated other rates:

  • 51–100 units (lifeline): Rs. 7.74 per unit
  • 1–100 units (protected): Rs. 10.54 per unit
  • 101–200 units (protected): Rs. 13.01 per unit
  • 1–100 units (non-protected): Rs. 22.44 per unit
  • 101–500 units (general): Rs. 28.91 to 40.20 per unit
  • Above 700 units: Rs. 47.69 per unit

In another big step, the government has removed the PTV license fee from electricity bills after more than 25 years. This will further reduce the total bill amount.

These changes are expected to help middle- and lower-income families. The goal is to make electricity more affordable and fair for everyone in Pakistan.
