Imran Khan Reportedly Denied Cooler Amid Intense Heat in Jail

Islamabad – Reports have emerged claiming that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has not been provided with a cooler or other adequate facilities in jail, despite the extreme heatwave affecting much of the country. The news has sparked serious concern among his legal team and party leaders.
Sources state that temperatures inside Adiala Jail are soaring, yet Imran Khan has access only to a fan and lacks any proper cooling arrangements. This situation comes at a time when parts of Pakistan are experiencing severe heat, with temperatures reaching up to 45°C, and official heatwave warnings have been issued.

PTI’s spokesperson condemned the lack of cooling facilities, calling it not only a violation of basic human rights but also an act of political victimization. The party has demanded that Imran Khan be immediately provided with appropriate ventilation or a cooler to safeguard his health.
Meanwhile, jail authorities responded by stating that facilities in prison are limited and are provided to inmates as per jail regulations. However, no specific clarification was offered regarding Imran Khan’s situation.
Human rights activists have also voiced concern, urging that the former Prime Minister be given at least the minimum standard of care, especially during the ongoing extreme weather, as lack of access to adequate cooling can pose serious health risks.
